Using AI to improve the audio quality of my videos!

I've just discovered that I can use AI to make the audio from my phone sound like a professional podcast. And it's blowing my mind. Adobe recently released the Adobe Podcast beta (lnkd.in/eMzpPA8u) which is a free tool to improve speech audio quality. I'm planning to go back through my most popular videos over the last 3 years and release again with better audio. Take a look at this example...

Some dream for me <3 Wish you a very happy and healthy life. Best of luck 🙂
Thank you Rifar, I hope the dream comes true 😊
Please I’ve applied for customer service and I’m trying to apply for products coordinator to the same company but different branch ..is it okay?
the stuff of dreams!....except they can become reality. Thanks for sharing!
"So I guess the point of this video is just to flex on you office losers" - in all seriousness, great to see remote working being promoted, the benefits say it all!
😂 thanks George
Lean, mean, hiring machine
For Companies with proprietary game engine like capcom with RE engine or rockstar with rage engine or valve with source engine is knowledge in unreal useful if not how can we get experience for such proprietary engines
You can't gain experience with company proprietary software unless you work for that company. So they won't be looking necessarily for specific engine experience rather what you have done with that engine.
@@JoeBurridge Okay, nice also I am a houdini FX artist are their companies that use houdini for FX or should I start learning that in unreal ? Would my houdini work(in movies) qualify for game works ?
Plz talk about How a game designer will apply for a job because unlike the artist they don't have a proper portfolio to submit Plz explain both level designer and system designer NOTE: This for a beginner designer who has not work on a big project yet .
You definitely can make a design portfolio, in fact every craft in game development can create a portfolio. It doesn't have to be just for artists. Take a look at this world class game design portfolio as an example www.davidshaver.net/
Great video! I personally love how uniqueness is celebrated. Super refreshing to come to work and not have to put on a façade or "business George".
Thanks George and totally agree, I never felt myself when I was forced to wear a 3 piece to work everyday
Can't begin to imagine how satisfying the full cycle process must be!
Definitely an interesting concept, just far too early to understand its role in society. Similarly to the languages industry, translation tools will never replace humans because art/language change far too often and have unlimited nuances.
In six years, never seen anyone in modern day break into the industry who wasent an intern. Internship are locked to sophomore/junior college students only, miss the window miss your chance.
You're right that AAA games studios use internship programs to bring in junior talent and rarely hire junior talent outside of their internship program. Thankfully, more and more games companies are opening up their internship programs to those who aren't currently students and that's going to increase. In this video I make the point that you can play the long game. Get some experience in a related field and then come back to the industry later in your career. I joined the games industry 5 years after graduating.
@@JoeBurridge Respectfully, I guess the question would be to who does the carrer advice goto if only the few already in the industry are the only ones who can use it? I see advice post all over the place
Hi Joe, how many times would you recommend applying to a single company - provided the applicant has been rejected for all previous openings? I've heard people apply to certain companies 40 times before getting accepted. In these difficult times, the number would've been much higher because of the talent pool - especially when one is applying internationally.
What you want to avoid is looking like you're spamming applications thoughtlessly. Applying over and over again to the same roles with the same profile is not a good look. Instead be purposeful, each time apply to no more than 3 and follow up with people at the company. If you're rejected, try hard to get some feedback and hold off for a few months until you apply again. You want to be selective with the roles you apply for.
My problem is: you are reviewing these portfolio on a big screen but elsewhere it is said that the recruiter will probably go through applications using a phone. In my case, as a concept artist and excelling most in highly detailed images, my work will look like shit on a small screen. So should I leave out images that are my best work but don't look impressive on a small screen and showcase lesser quality work that looks good on a phone instead? Thanks.
Hi Paul! In my experience, I don't know many recruiters who would review applications on a phone. I've never done it personally, especially when it comes to portfolio reviews. That said, having a portfolio that is optimised for mobile is no bad thing. But Artstation is already setup for that and using a template from Wix or Squarespace will also already be optimised for mobile. Hope that helps
Really insightful chat! Loved this
Thank you George! 🙏🏻
Awesome way to get new hires up to speed with the history of a company!
Love me a rhythm game! All the best mate - Space Ape are lucky to have you
Thanks George, always appreciate the support. Excited to get started!
Coming directly after seeing the post on LinkedIn ✨🚀 Your passion and dedication to your craft have truly inspired me. In the vast sea of portfolios, it's refreshing to find individuals who not only showcase their hard work but also share valuable insights. I particularly appreciate your perspective on what works in the world of recruiting. Your advice is a rarity, and it's been incredibly helpful. As a web developer looking to transition into game dev, your guidance is invaluable. Youemphasizes on quality over quantity in portfolio projects and that resonates with me. I'm curious, have you ever encountered a situation where having just two well-crafted games in your portfolio was sufficient to qualify for a job? Your experience would be greatly appreciated. I guess feedback is the most needed thing when aspiring to quality of work.
Thanks Joe, great video, can't wait to read the books listed (Except Dale Carniege which I have already read and it was very helpful for me). A book I just read that I would like to recommend (I'm not a recruiter) is "Talent" by Tyler Cowen and Daniel Gross.
Thanks Daniele! I'll add that book to my wish list ☺️
i am 44 years old been trying to get a job for a very long time . all i get rejection email why continue if it is never going to happen . ?
the only thing i know how to do is play video games after that not much else .?
Thank you so very much! Your Interview tips are SO helpful, like overdressing could be a make or break!
Thanks Andrea ☺️
This was super helpful, thanks Joe! It's inspiring me to make a massive overhaul on my portfolio!
I'm so glad you found it useful, best of luck with the portfolio overhaul!
Hi Joe! Came across your channel few days ago and I'm genuinely amazed by all these tips and knowledge you're sharing with us to help make our dream come true. Kudos for the combined documents tip: did that for my previous application and turned out to be very appreciated 😊 Thank you for you effort, please keep it up! 😁
Thank you so much, it means a lot. This type of feedback is exactly why I make this content. I'm so glad it has helped ☺️

Aren't the requisites to enter said jobs similar to games?
Not sure what you mean
@@JoeBurridge I meant that, getting a VFX job would be as difficult since they also ask for experience. As an assumption/question rather than a statement.
I heard events can be a bad experience going alone and its not like I could find someone else to go with, have you gone to events alone? Was this before or after you entered the industry?
Unfortunately, I'm also going to add on this point because sadly, it's still prevalent in 2023. There's also been a lot of discrimination when it comes to application names depending on if it sounds too "foreign" meaning no matter what skills and even if you follow all the points, they'll reject you regardless. I've known someone who's been a victim of this where they've applied to the same company after being rejected but changed their name to something more "western" and immediately got an interview. It's pretty depressing and honestly, it something that I wish more recruiters were more honest about
You're right that unfortunately we live in a world with unconscious bias. I think you may like this video ua-cam.com/video/8k775-TKJK8/v-deo.html
Really timely video that loads of folk with benefit from! Shout out to Adobe Podcast for the beautiful quality!

Strong end to the series! Great advice all round!
Thanks George, I had a lot of fun working on these videos
can you recommend where to find a game jam or what modding communities to join and how that process works?
Hi Joe, I was hoping you got time to answer these questions related to your video. When it comes to public playtesting opportunities, where can you find them directly or online? Are there sites we can use as search tools for certain playtest events? Thanks.
This is awesome Joe thank you for making this!
And thank you for this comment Daniel, I'm so glad you like this video ☺️
What if you have a good portfolio, made a few games but don't have a college degree?
Some people get a degree to learn how to make games, and it looks like you've learned that skill without a degree. Brilliant. You're good to go. You don't need a degree
@@JoeBurridge I am guessing that with what I described I won't be applying as an entry level worker right?
@@BringBackKarinInSf6 You probably would. Try looking for entry level jobs
Thank you joe! 🤠🙂
The reality is that within games there are roles across all disciplines - so many different industries have skillsets that are heavily transferable! Great video Joe!
Exactly right! Thank you George 😊
Making connections and meeting folk has been the main factor in my growth and career progression!
Meeting me has to be up there in your top faves, right?
Really solid tips!
Thanks George!
Great video as always Joe!
Thank you George! 🥰
I guess I am weird because I have actually gone by Jacob Ryan Wheeler by friends a lot, like as in a "Hello there JacobRyanWheeler!" thing. Hahaha. I have also used it in my level design commentaries when introducing myself. Hmmm...I wonder if people think I am trying to be uber professional or something. If anything, I use it because it separates me from the other Jacob wheelers perhaps, or it is more memorable when said all at once. Maybe I will change it; I'll have to think about this. 🤔
On job applications, use the name that you would use when introducing yourself to someone
Sir I really appreciate this type of videos of guiding us about video game industry. I want to ask that can you tell me about 3d software that they use in game industry. According to google top software for 3d modeling is 3DS Max and also according to google game industry uses Maya . I am a Blender user and can make any kind of asset using blender. And people saying that blender is not industry level. The question is should I change the software or improve my skills in blender is this software is getting better in every update. Shall be very thankful to you in this regard.
For 3D modelling, most employers in the industry will believe that if you can model in Blender then you can easily learn another tool. That said, I recommend keeping experimenting with other tools and keep broadening your skill set to give you an advantage. Maya in my experience tends to be more popular in the games industry.
Loving the captions! Great addition!
I had multiple requests after the first video to implement them. Luckily Clipchamp has an auto CC feature so it was really easy
Hi joe thx for the video...
My pleasure, glad you liked it ☺️
